What to Expect
We love visitors—you are most welcome! We know that visitors come from all different backgrounds, experiences, church traditions, and expectations. Our heart is to make your visit as seamless, enjoyable, spiritually refreshing, and encouraging as possible.
Here are answers to the questions visitors most often ask.
When and where?
Sundays at 10:00 AM
1 Thornlake Court, Tingalpa (we meet at Tingalpa State School)
Services run for approximately one hour.
Where should I park and how do I find you?
There are two large parking areas available:
Best option: Park via Thornlake Court access for the easiest route to our building, which is right across from the tennis court. You should easily be able to see us by following the signs.
Alternative: If you park in the main school parking area near the administration building, follow the signs to walk through the school—you’ll find us after about 100 meters following the signage.
What's your worship style like?
We embrace a conservative worship style that centres on simple, biblical, Christ-exalting worship. You’ll experience predominantly congregational singing rather than performance-based worship elements. We joyfully sing psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs together as a congregation.
What happens during the service?
Are children welcome?
Yes!!! Your little ones are invited emphatically, joyfully, and without hesitation. As members of the covenant family, we would never exclude them from worship—it’s a familial celebration. We enthusiastically expect your joyful noise-makers, wiggly pew-sitters, and tiny dancers.
Do you have children's programs?
We have Ascension Kids Sunday School, and you’re welcome to check your children in before the service. However, the choice is entirely yours as the parent. If you prefer to keep your children with you during the service, that’s perfectly fine too.
What should I wear?
Come in whatever outfit makes you feel most comfortable, so long as it isn’t a distraction for others. Our congregation dresses fairly casually, though some members enjoy wearing formal attire and many fall somewhere in between. The important thing is that you’re here!
Do you offer accessibility services?
Yes! We provide Australian sign language (Auslan) services for any attendees who would prefer to utilise that service. Our facility is wheelchair accessible with ambulant parking spaces and accessible restroom facilities.
What happens after the service?
We prioritise authentic community and enjoy an extended time of fellowship after each service with morning tea and light refreshments. Please plan to stick around—this is a wonderful opportunity to connect with our church family.
Should I let you know I'm coming?
I've never been to church before—what participation is required from me?
A church service should be the easiest thing you participate in! At Ascension Church, you’re welcome to engage or disengage as much or as little as you feel comfortable on your first visit.
Sometimes we stand and sometimes we sit and listen. We’re not the kind of church that has you up, down, on your knees, spinning around, or jumping here and there—but you’re welcome to adopt whatever posture feels comfortable for you and enjoy the service.
Our service is not a spectacle or performance with an audience. God is our audience, and we are here to offer the service of our worship to Him. If you’ve never been to church before and you’re hesitating because you really don’t know what to expect, we think Ascension Church is a great place for you to come and visit—completely no commitment required.
What if I get lost or need help?
No worries! Use the contact information on our website or send us a message through our Ascension Church Facebook page—either way will connect you directly with one of our elders who can help you out.
